Roseville PONY Academic All-American
Awards Program


I. To Qualify:
The award is to recognize those players for outstanding academic achievement beginning at the 4th grade level. To qualify the player must have participated in the Roseville PONY Baseball (RPBB) Winter or Spring Season program and have applied in writing for the current year’s participation in the “Roseville PONY Academic All-American awards program. (Home schooling is accepted)

2003Requirements:

Completed application.

Copy of the pupil’s end of year report card submitted no later than July 25th
(all classes will be included to determine GPA) with pupil’s signatures.

Must be in the 4th grade or above.

Must have been registered and have played in this years’ Roseville PONY Baseball Winter 2002 or Spring Season 2003 program. Injured players qualify if they have been Pony registered and played at least part of 1 game in this year’s program.

II. Timing for Recognition

The program will follow the current PONY Baseball year and align with the pupil’s grade level for his or her summer graduating class. Example, year 2003 PONY Baseball season (includes pre season Winter Baseball 2002 or Spring Baseball Season 2003) will align with the graduating classes in the summer of 2003(includes year round schools). Students and Parents must submit the application with all supporting documents (signed copy of their report card and photo of player) for consideration by July 25th 2003.

III. Academic Achievement

A) The grade point average (GPA) levels of recognition are as follows.

Bronze w/ GPA of 3.0

Silver w/ GPA of 3.5

Gold w/ GPA of 4.0

B) The GPA will be determined by the Program Director and will be based on the following scale. Some schools use letter grades and others use point totals, both are acceptable. A grade in any subject of “D” or below or a point total below 70 on their final report card will disqualify a player completely. Also a plus (+) or a minus (–) is not recognized in determining the GPA.

Letter Grades Point Totals

C = 2.0 70 to 79 = 2.0

B = 3.0 80 to 89 = 3.0

A = 4.0 90 or above = 4.0

IV. Awards & Ceremony

All Levels of achievement are to receive a Roseville PONY Baseball Academic All-American Jacket (w/ RPBB Logo on the right side/chest and the players name as “Academic All-American” w/ a Star of the appropriate color, (Bronze, Silver or Gold) on the left side / chest next to the year of achievement), also a “Certificate Of Academic Excellence” awarded at the annual awards ceremony Friday, September 26th, where the pupil’s name and achievements will be recognized.

Parents will be responsible for the cost of the RPBB jacket only. Cost of jacket will vary from $19 to $52 depending on the type of jacket you choose. Each year RPBB will embroider the new years’ achievement on the jacket at no cost. Parents can also purchase an additional jacket if their child’s jacket is lost, stolen, worn or too small, with the cost of embroidery paid for by RPBB. (Financial hardships that qualify for league assistance as a player are included in the Academic All-American program at no cost).

V. Application and required supporting items must be submitted by July 25th 2003.

Supporting Items:

1) Player Photo ….. Submit a wallet size colored photo of player in full uniform with cap. Photo should be from the waist to head if possible with no other person in the picture. Put the players name and division on the back and insert it into a plastic sleeve or baggie.

2) Report Card….. Include a copy of the end-of-year report card for school year (summer 2003).

3) Comments Sheet…. Parents, this is your opportunity to include comments or other achievements that you as a parent feel are worth mentioning at our annual awards presentation. These are primarily things outside of baseball. Please try to keep it to 1 or 2 paragraphs and please have it in type written form and legible.

4) Enclose CHECK…. For the cost of the jacket. You will be contacted prior to purchase to verify size requirements. (See “Jacket Order Form” Included). Please make check payable to Roseville Pony Baseball.

5) Submit to Academic All-American application to….. Terry Lantrip chairman of Roseville Academic All-American awards program, 1618 Steinbeck Dr. , Roseville, CA 95747 or call to arrange a time to drop off the packet at 784-1336

Please keep a copy for your own file in case the mailed packet is lost or misplaced by the post office. The photo you submit will not be returned to you.

You will receive confirmation that your child has qualified and details regarding the time and place for the RPBB hosted awards ceremony on Friday, September 26th, 2003.
